GERALDINE FARMERS’ CLUB.
The annual ploughing' match, under the janspices of the Geraldine Farmers’ Club, was held on Thursday, at Mr D. Shaw’s farm, about four miles from Geraldine. The weather was not favourable, and the attendance and entries showed a falling off compared with previous years. The ploughing, however, was the best yet seen at any of the club’s annual matches, and was most favourably commented on by the judges. Some dissatisfaction was caused owing to the Committee not allowing the “false cut ” to be used for the match. The judges were Messrs J&hn Patterson, C. Bangfaen and S. BrownA M. Brophy, carried off first prize in Class A, doublefurrow, and was presented with JB2 from the makers of the plough. The same competitor also won the Champion prize for best lot in the field and special prizes for best finish and best jiidge in Class A, and extra special prize for best finish on the field, G. Winter won first prize in Glass B, and the special prize for best finish in tMs class. G. Ward won first prize in Class D, single-furrow, and best finish and best ridge prizes respectively. In the evening the club’s annual dinner was held ;at the Oddfellows’ Hall.
