MARKET REPORTS.

HORSE SALES. : There, were fairly large entries at the horse sales on Saturday, but, with a few exceptions, the quality was anything but first-class. The recent wet weather havingmade the ground fit for 'ploughing, farmers were on the look-out for suitable animals to do the work, and farm horses, on the whole, sold well, but lighter horses were hard to quit. Really good, heavy, broken, farm horses brought from £lB to .£24 10s, medium sorts from £3 to £ls, unbroken draughts from £ll to £l7, light harness horses from £7 to £l2 10s, fair hacks from £6 to £lO, and weeds and aged sorts from £1 2s 6d to £5.

PIGS AND POULTRY. The majority of the pigs entered at the sales on Saturday were backward stores and very small sorts, which were neglected. The yardings of poultry, large, were made up mostly of inferior birds, lacking very much in condition, and for this class there was but poor competition. Really, prime birds alone were in request. Prices realised were: —Pigs—Porkers 14s 6d to 20s, fair stores 8s to 12s 9d, and smaller pigs and suckers from 2s to 7s. Poultry— Roosters 2s 6d to 3s 6d, pullets 2s 3d to 3s, hens 2s to 3s, ducks Is 6d to 3s, geese 3s to ss ; turkeys, cocks 14s to 20s, and hens 6s 6d to Bs, all at per pair.
