CRICKET.

LOCAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. Cricket on Saturday was carried on in splendid weather, but the week’s rains had soddened all the wickets and deadened the out-field very much. As a consequence the howlers had things very much their own way, and some unexpectedly low scoring resulted. As the Midland seniors easily defeated United, and Lancaster Park found the Sydenham bowling practically unplayable, the Midland team again won the Senior Cup for the season. In the Junior contests the Midlanders, on the soft wicket, were unable to cope with the Lancastrian bowling, and the latter were hailed as winners of the Junior trophy. The. President’s Cup matches are as yet unfinished, St Albans, Lancaster Park and Midland all having-chances of winning. The following table shows the results of the Senior Cup matches for the season
