BOROUGH COUNCILS.
AKAEOA. The usual fortnightly meeting of the Akaroa Borough Council was hold on Wednesday last; present tho Mayor and Councillors Chappell, Taylor, Grange, Munro, Tallents, Penn, Henning, Vaagioni and Watkins. The applications of the Oddfellows’ Hall and Temperance Hall Committees for renewal of licenses were granted. A letter was received from tho wharfinger enclosing a cheque for wharfage during tho past quarter. The statement of accounts showed the receipts since the last meeting to have been £6l 3s. Accounts to the amount of £52 4s 2d were passed for payment. Tho debit balance at the bank of New Zealand was reported to be £9O 19s sd. It was decided to erect a now lamp on Beach Road, and to procure a new lamp for the wharf. The Finance Committee waa authorised to prepare estimates for tho year 1895-96. ST ALBANS.
a special meeting of the St Albans Borough Council waa held last evening; present—the Mayor (Mr J. Penteney), Councillors Money, Morgan, Million, Waymouth, Keig, Brooker and Wake. An apology for absence was received from Councillor Tyree. The burgess list was passed, and the Mayor and Councillors Keig and Million were authorised to sign it. After disposing of some minor business the proceedings terminated.
