NEW SOUTH WALES.

THE BUDGET. [SPECIAL TO PEESB ASSOCIATION/] LONDON, Mat 10. The Daily Chronicle considers th© New South Wales Budget an admirable piece of Democratic statesmanchip, standing out in special relief to Sir Gr. B. Dibbs’s shuffling and retrograde finance. The limit o£ exemption from Income tax is perhaps rather high. The Daily News thinks the return o£ New South Wales to freotrade will have an important effect on the whole of Australia. THE POLITICAL SITUATION. COALITION OP PASTIES. SYDNEY, Max 11. At the Opposition caucus Mr Lyno Etrenuouely opposed a coalition, and is repotted to have stated that if the Opposition followed Sir E. Parkea he would vote for Mr Eeid, Sir G. R. Dibbs is reported to have said that in order to protect the industries which had grown up under the Protectionist policy ho was willing to moke a great sacrifice, and, walking out from the head of the party, hand over the power to the only man who could win in the present Parliament. That man was Sir H. Parkes, whom it was well known he personally disliked: but if Sir H. Parkes could only frame a resolution against the Eeid Government and save the country from ruin and chaoa, he would for the time being follow him. He thought if he could suSsr this, the members of his party might well do tho same. The caucus carried a motion in favour of the proposal for a coalition of parties, there being three disGeutientSj Messrs Lyne, Willis and Price. Mat 12, ■ Tho Government are very confident of victory, and the general opinion is that the P.-otactioniets will greatly damage their cause by joining Sir H. Parkes. Mr Eeid cays that their action plays right into the hands of the Government, end ha is grieved to sea Sir H. Parkea do basely betray his principles, and his opponents abandon their causa to such a ehifty leader. Negotiations, which have every likelihood of proving Kuccassful, are proceeding for reuniting the two sections of the Labour Party.
