Five married men selected at Timaru to bo sent to the Government road works near Galatea, left Timaru by Thursday’s express for Lyttelton, on the way to their work; Specially low rates were obtained for their transport by sea, and 25 per cent taken off tho railway fares. The total costirom Timaru to Eotorua worts amounts to osly £2 7s 2d for each man, made up of—-rail to Lyttelton Hs 2d, boat to Auckland 15s, keep ia Auckland 3s, rail to Eotorua 18b.
