NORTH CANTERBURY CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.

ANNUAL GATHERING. Tho annual gathering oc the North Canterbury Caledonian Society was held yesterday at AmberSey, undor tho most favourable circumstances, the weather being beautifully fine and tho attendance large. The excursion train from Christchurch was well patronised, and amongst tho visitors wero Mr P. Campbell, president of the Canterbury Caledonian Society; Mr W. Fraser, president of tho Kaiapoi Society, end Mr D. M’Lean, •president of the Ashburton Society. Tho day's proceedings opened with a procession from tho township to the ground, headed by Pipers H. M. M’Kay, J. Wade and D. M’Kechuia. The officials and prominent visitors lunched together, and tho menu included a fust-class haggis made by Mrs Little, of Allandale.
