The Premier informs Mr Fish that matters in connection with the licensing elections are very complicated, but the Cabinet will be guided by the advice of its law officers. As exception whs taken to the message being sent free, the Town Clerk forwards a postal order for the coat. Mr Thomas Wright, manager of the Hawksbury Agricultural College, was deputed by the New South Wales Government, on his recent visit, to purchase two Ayrshire cows of the best milking strains, with the view of making the dairying branch of farming a special feature of the college. Mr Murray purchased from Messrs A. and J. M’Farlane, of Ayrshire Park, the cows Beauty 11. and Lill XL, which were taken by Mr Murray per the Wairarapa. Mr J. E. Scott, who has been interesting himself in getting the Agent-General to take in hand arrangements for the show of New Zealand cheese and butter, has received a communication from Messrs Trongrouso to the effect that the Agent-General will gladly assist when an opportunity offers, such as a representative meeting of the Colonial Institute. There was not a particularly large attendance at the Dunedin Cycling Club’s sports. The results of the principal events wore:—Three-mile, open—E. Crow 55yds, 1; F. Truman 90yds, 2. Time—7min 55sec. Time—lmin llaeo. Ten-mile Championship—C. Hall 1, E. Crow 2. Time—2Bmin 05-sec. Crow won the special prize for being first past the post tho greatest number of times. A. Day, 120yds, won the Mile Eoadster, and with 450yds won the Two-mile. 220yds Flat Handicap—T. J. Lynch 15yds, 1; T. E. Mackay 2. Time —22mia o£seo. 440yds Hurdles —J. T. Prain 14yds, lj W. A.
