[Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, April 13. Five of the most important chiefs of the Arawa tribe have been arrested in the Tauranga district for default in payment of the dog tax. Amongst them is Te Pokeha Taranui, better known as Major Fox. The occurrence caused some sensation in the district, especially among the Natives. NELSON, April 13 Three and three-quarter inches of rain fell between midnight and 11 a.m. DUNEDIN, April 13. At a meeting of the City Council tonight, Mr H. Mitchell, Superintendent of the Port Chalmers Fire Brigade, received the appointment of Superintendent of the Dunedin City Brigade. The proposal to join with the suburban municipalities in forming a Domain Board for St Clair and Ocean Beach was postponed.
