DBOTfTKBHSBsa.—Seven first offenders were fined 6s each.—Johanna Mahoney, John Beuton and David Thow wore fined 10s each. —Catherine Meredith was fined 20s.

MißCHiLAKEOira.—Patrick Gilion, for failing to keep a lamp alight at the Qarriok Hotel on March 5, was fined 20i —Thomas Williams was charged with using abusive language to Constable Lawrence Kelly on Feb. 28. He pleaded guilty. Mr Corr appeared for him, and withdrew the plea. Constable Kelly deposed that about eight o'clock in the evening defendant rushed across to the railway station with his express oart. Witness told him to wait his turn. Defendant refused and defied witness to touch him or his horse. Cross-examined: Defendant had a right to go for luggage, but should wait his turn. Witness took him by the throat for a minute or two beoause he insulted him. Shook his fist at defendant. The defendant deposed that he had been called by a gentleman to take luggage. Turned his horse to the footpath under the arch. Prosecutor ordered him back and took hint by the throat. Witness called him a b rogue, and would call him so sgain. The Benoh reproved the witness. Defendant went on to say that the constable threatened to shove his teeth down his throat. Walter | Wails, carrier, corroborated defendant's I evidenoe. Cross • examined: Had been informed against several times by Kelly. The Benoh fined defendant 20s, with the alternative of 24 hours' imprisonment.—John Greer was oharged with being the owner of a vioious dog. Mrs William Green proved that the dog had bitten one of her children. Mr Banks corroborated the evidenoe. Fined 10s. —Maurioe Griffin and A. Olophane were fined Ss eaoh for having no light on hoardings.— Robert Dunn was fined 6s for allowing a cow to wander.—Mary Ann Beverley was fined 6s for causing an obstruction on Selwyn street by tethering a horse thereon. AstrsiVß Languagh.- Frank Hook was oharged with using provoking and insulting language to William Pattinson. Mr M'Oonnei appeared for the complainantj Mr Stringer appoared for the defendant. Complainant deposed that be had purchased goods from Mr M. Harris for a small balance in respect of which defendant, who was an employee of Mr Harris, refused him oredit. Afterwards defendant threatened to make it " warm for him." On a later oooasion defendant took off his coat and threatened violence. Was in bodily fear of defendant. Crossexamined t Did not tell defendant to go to a certain place. Mr Graham, storekeeper, gave oorroborative evidenoe. Mr Stringer submitted that the evidenoe did not support the information. The Bench bound the defendant over in his own surety for £lO, and ordered him to pay the complainant's solicitor's fee.

Pbotbsktiok Omkb.—Jane Milner applied for a protection order against her husband, Benjamin. The case had been previously heard, and the same evidenoe was repeated. The Benoh made the order. Aiwmawoh.—Theoaso of Charlotte Webb against Charles Fleming, adjourned from last week, was continued. The evidence of the matron of the Befnge was taken. The defendant, in his defence, denied the paternity. The complainant declined to be bothered asking defendant any questions. The Benoh took time to consider their deoision.
