I PUBLIC NOTICE. mHE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT 1 will, until further notice, provide FREE PASSAGES for SINGLE WOMEN, between the ages of 12 and 40, emigrating from England to Canterbury, in ships under contract with the Provincial Government, Married women and children will be charged at the usual rates. The passages of male emigrants will be charged for at the rate of £l4 per statute adult, on approved bills, payable thirty days after sight, or 10 per cent discount for cash payment. A MEMORIAL having been presented to the Board of Education from a con- | siderable portion of the inhabitants of the Cust District (as hereinafter described), stating that no provision has been made for t public school education in the said district, i and praying for the erection of such district 3 into a separate educational district, and hereby give notice, in accordance with the provisions of the "Education Ordinance, J 18'64," that a public meeting of the oceut piers and owners of land, and householders resident in the said district, will be held on TUESDAY, the 11th day of SEPTEMBER, 1864, at seven o'clock pm,, at Messent'i 0 Accommodation House, on the Cust, for the purpose of ascertaining whether such owners, occupiers, and householders are willing that the said district should be formed into an educational district; also for ascertaining . whether such owners, occupiers, and householders are willing to provide the proportion - of the annual expenses of an educational district, to be paid by such district, as provided by the " Education Ordinance, 1864." The following is the description of the y proposed district:—Commencing at tbe junction of the western boundary of the Kernside '• educational district with the south bank of ' e the River Ashley, following the said bounn dary southerly to the Harewood and Kangiora e lioad, thence wwterly to the eastern boundary of the Cust Koad Board district, followh ing said boundary southwards till it meets the boundary of the Eyretown educational district, following this latter boundary westward and southward to the north bank of the _ River Eyre, following said bank westward to the western boundary of Run No. 14, thence following this boundary northward to the Cust Main Drain Reserve, and a line in conit tinuation of said boundary drawn straight to the south bank of the Hiver Ashley, thence i 8 following this bank to the commencing point.
