ON THE PRINCIPLES OF ENGINEERING CONSTRUCTION, Will be delivered in the Town Hall, on SEPTEMBER 11th, 18th, 19th, asd 21st, At half-past Seven eacli Evening, BY E. DOBSON, ESQ, C.E., Provincial Engineer. The Directors of the High School have long felt the desire to provide for their pupils some instruction in the departments of Science and Mechanics. Through the kindDess of Mr. Dobson, Dr. Haast, and Dr. Llewellyn Powell, the Directors are now a le to announce a course of Lectures upon Engineering, Geology, and Chemistry. The entire absence of any such means of instruction in this city has induced them to extend their original plan, and to throw the classes open to the pupils of all other Schools, to the members of the different Literary Societies, and to all artizans who may wish to join the class. Mr. Dobson has intimated his intention of giving to this class, annually, a " Provincial Engineer's Prize." The Directors will place a sum at Mr. Dobson's disposal, so that he may add such other prizes as the attendance at the class and the proGciency acquired may seem to warrant. Great care has been taken by Mr. Dobson to render the lectures, by means of models, plans and maps, as instructive as possible, andeveryencouragementandassistance in the power of Mr. Dobson, or the Directors, will be given to those who may be desirous of following up the advantages derived from this course. Managers of Schools, Literary Societies, and employers of skilled artisans, are invited to send in to the Secretary the names of any ■who are desirous of joining this class, when free tickets will be returned. Ample accommodation will be provided for the public. ADMISSION-ONE SHILLING. Tickets may be had on application to the Eev.
