CASUALTIES.

A sad accident occurred at the Invercar gill Railway Station on Thursday last, resulting in the death of Mr John Davy Blackmore, about 45 years of age, and a married man who leaves a widow and seven of a family—three girls and four boys—the eldest 2L and the youngest 3 years of age. At the time of the accident Mr Blackmore, who was usually employed in the goods shed, was engaged checking the 8 50 1 a.m. special train to Bluff, which was standing at the railway platform. He was standing in the yard performing these duties when an engine en another line pushed along a number of trucks from the south end. Mr Blackmore evidently did not hear their ap proach, owing to the noise mde by the traffic on the railway platform and the buzz of conversation, and was struck by the leading truck, thrown o.i to the line, nino of the vehicles passing over his body. The unfortunate man was removed to the Hospital, but death had been instantaueous, the body having been terribly mutilated.
