QUEENSTOWN CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.

The annual sports were held on Now Year's Day in beautiful weather. Th» attendance was not quite so good as in former years. The officials worked well, and the events were got off in good time. Mr J. E.dgar, eenr., was secretary and carried out his duties in a most satisfactory manner. The Queenstown Brass Band was in attendance and helped considerably to enliven the day's proceedings. Results:

Quoits, 18yds; prizes 30s and 15s. —J. McChesney 1, B. Anderson 2. Nine entries. Maiden Foot Eace, 100 yds; prizes, 20s and 10s—J. Hannah 1, H. Davidson '2. Five entries.

Youth's Foot Eace, 100 yds; prizes 10s, 2s 6d and Is—T. L. James 1, B. Farrant 2, A- Farrant 3. Twelve entries.

Dominion Handicap, 150 yds; prizes 30s and 10s—J. McCarthy, 4yds, 1; R. Archer, scr 2. Eight entries. Throwing the Stone, prizes 20s and 10s— E. Kennedy, scr (26ft 7in), I; A. MeDowall, Ift Oin (22ft 9in), 2. Eight entries.

School Boy's Relay Race—J. Craig's team 1, O Connell's team 2, R. Summer's team 3.

Ticket Race, 100 yds; prizes ,£l—J. Hamilton, winner, 1; C. Mcßride, drawer, 10s. Ten entries.

Queenstown Jubilee Handicap, 200 yds, prizes 60s and 15s—J. Hannah, 9yds, 1; J. Hamilton, 3yds, 2. Six entries.

Young Women's Race—Miss Craig (pair gloves) ; Miss Horan 2. New Year Handicap, 440 yds; prizes 40s and 20s.—R. Hunter, scr, 1 ; C. Mcßride, 10yds, 2. Six entries. There were several foot races for children during the day. the prizes being mainly contributed by Mr J. Wenkheim.
