GALES IN AMERICA.
Loss of Life. Heavy gale 3 have swept the east coasts of America, and the country has been inundated in many sections. Schooners have been lost. Communication is paralysed between Richmond and Atlanta. There has been considerable loss of life. The British steamer ludrakuala collided with and sank the steamer Julia Luchenabeb in Chesapeake B.iy. The captain and his wire, and twenty sailors were drowned. Si*, clung to the rigging for several hours, and though benumbed with cold were finally rescued. A terrific storm paralysed the rescuers' eti'orts.
