Rain commenced,'folio wed by heavy snow on the ranges, on Wednesday last and continued until Monday last. The bad weather has greatly hindered threshing and general harvesting operations, and unfortunately it is quite possible some of our farmers will suffer serious loss, particularly with barley crops yet in the stoolc-' Many old residents inform us that it is many years since such a steady downpour as occurred last week was experienced in this district. The weather is again fine, and no doubt hay will be made while the sun shines. We have also received word that the snow on the ranges is very deep and at Walter Peak and Mt Nicholas Station some 17,000 sheep are snow bound. A considerable number of men are engaged on the stations named snow-raking.
