CRICKET.

Arrowtown was visited on EasterSaturday by a Carisbrook team from Dunedin, and on Monday by a team organised by the Northend Cricket Club, of Invercargill Both teams proved too strong for the local players,, a want of enterprise in our batting accounting in a great measure for the downfall. The weather was good on both days; and the visitors from Dunedin. and Invercargill seemed to enjoy their stay at the Lakes. They have expressed their intention to visit iis again, and we may now safely class our games at Easter as a Cricket Festival. Tho cricketers' social on Easter Monday evening proved a success, and was. attended by all the Invercargill players as well as by those of the Carisbrook team who had not returned to Dunedin. The routine of dances was varied by songs acceptably rendered by Misses A. Cotter, M. Jopp, and Messrs Dickson, Gray, Crockett and Fretwell. Mrs Perrelle and Mr Crockett also sang; a duet, which was also enjoyed. The' n dance music was played by Mra •<- Perrelle, Misses M'Leod and Youngman, and by Mr O'Kane, to all of whom the cricketers, owe a debt of gratitude for their willing assistance. To the ladies who supervised and supplied refreshments to the cricket teams on Saturday and Monday, and to the social on Monday evening, the thanks of the cricketers are also due. The success of the Festival was largely owing to. the successful manner in which tho ladies carried out their part of tho programme.
