ARROW v. CARISBROOK (Dunedin).

Austin won the toss, and took first lease of the wicket. The Arrow howlers worked well, and, although.

the Carisbrook total amounted to 179, the bowling never became looso, while the fielding was distinctly creditable. Außtin showed some fine hitting in putting together his 60, while Thomson, Cuddie and others did good servico for their side. "When Arrow went to the wickets they found the bowling of Austin very difficult to negotiate, and, Guddio also bowling well, the total only came to 78. James Anderson was going strong, but, after getting 22, he put his leg in front. Wilcox, who kindly came down from Skippers for the occasion, also batted well for 14. Arrow followed on, and lost 7 wickets for 78, when failing light brought a pleasant day's cricket to an end. In this innings Thomson got 30 and M'Skimming 14. Scoros :-- CARISBEOOK. NORTH-END TEAM (Invehcabgill.) This match provided another enjoyable day's cricket. Arrow went first to the wickets, and although assisted by Thomson and Burt (Carisbrook) C. Lewis (Skippers), and C. Davis (Queenatown), were quickly dismissed for the meagre total of 46. Lewis (12) alone reached double figures. The trundling of Hamilton and Crockett (the two Bluff cracks) was responsible for the downfall. The Invercargill players soon made the Arrow total look small. Ritchie was top scorer with 70 (not out) and batted extremely well, taking no liberties at first, but afterwards hitting oleanly. Crocket and Doig also showed sound batting. Tho total came to 151 and would have been larger but for tho good fielding of the Arrow team. In their second innings Arrow did much better, having 151 for 8 wickets at call of time. Burt and Georgo Thomson hit lustily, and Lewis again played well. Scores : ARROW—Ist Innings.
