AMATEUR CYCLE CLUB

The Cycle Club's road race of twenty miles was held in fine weather on Saturday. The times were fairly slow owing to the wind which reached gale force on the return trip to town. S. Hall, off 41 mins., rode well to gain a very popular win, with A. Lee second. The only scratch rider, G. Irvine, had a difficult task ahead to catch the limit men. With a tail wind going out, the boys made the pace hot . and Irvine gained very little, although he was doing 20 miles an hour. With Hall, Stewart and Lee off the same mark, the limit men had little chance of holding their lead in such a heavy wind and were caught at the sevenmile peg. G. Irvine gained fastest time. Result was as follows: S. Hall, M min. . . ...... 1 A. Lee, il min 2 A. Riley, 6} min . 3 Fastest time, G. Irvine 61m. lis.
