HEAVY FROST
LIGHT SNOWFALL YESTERDAY. UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE IN TE KUITI. The frost experienced this morning is believed to be the most severe recorded in Te Kuiti for several years. Taps froze even in houses on the hill, and the frost even when exposed to the sun was so severe that it did not melt until late in the morning. Yesterday snow fell in Te Kuiti. After a hard frost the southerly wind brought over rain clouds, and a short fall of snow and sleet, followed by rain, was the forerunner of a fine but cold day. Light snow was also experienced in Pio Pio and other districts where falls are most uncommon.
