WEDDING

FURNISS—BAKER. IVORY SATIN GOWN. A charming wedding was celebrated at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Morrinsville, on the afternoon of Saturday, June 17, between Rona Dorothy, eldest daughter of Mr. J. Baker, Tatuanui, and the late Mrs. E. E. Baker, and Frank Oswald, fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Furniss, of Pio Pio. The officiating minister was Archdeacon Gillespie, and Mrs. H. L. Wilton played the wedding music. The church had been decorated by friends of the bride with white ‘chrysanthemums and lilies.

The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a charming frock of ivory palais satin, the simplicity broken by minute looped buttons from the roule faggoted neckline to the end of the long train, which was inset with small godets of faggoted roule work. The sleeves, gathered at the shoulders, were finished with looped buttons from the elbow, and with points over the hands, and her veil of ivory tulle, appliqued with satin daisies, was held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms, and was worn over the face as the bride entered the church. She carried a sheaf of arum lilies, white chrysanthemums and gyposphila.

Four Bridesmaids.

In attendance as bridesmaids were Mises Edna Baker, Erris McLaughlin, Mavis Baker and Joyce Furniss. They were dressed alike in frocks of rainbow striped taffeta shirred at the high waistlines and featuring kimino sleeves. Their headdresses were of pleated silk net and rosebuds, and they wore strings of pearls, gifts of the bridegroom, and carried posies of mauve and pink sweet peas, pink carnations and maidenhair fern.

The bridegroom was attended by Mr. T. Wilton as best man and Mr. J. Hillary as groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Tatuanui Hall, which had been decorated with streamers to tone with the frocks of the bridal party, and with bowls of Iceland poppies. Mrs. Baker was wearing a wine ensemble, wine hat and accessories, and she carried a posy of violets and begonia. Mrs. A. A. Furniss wore a brown ensemble and accessories, and carried a posy of violets, brown marigolds and autumn berries. In the evening a dance was held and a happy time was spent, music being supplied by Mr. D. Hobbs, and Mr. J. Knyvett. Songs by Mrs. J. 'Wilton, Mrs. B. Lugton, Mr. R. Young and Mr. J. Knyvett, piano-accordeon items by Mr. and Mrs. McGregor, and bagpipe selections by Mrs. McLaughlin, were much appreciated.

When Mr. and Mrs. F. 0. Furniss left for the south, the bride travelled in a navy costume with fox furs and accessories to tone. Their home will be at Tatuanui.
