CLEARING SALE AT ARIA.
SOUND COWS AVERAGE £8 8s
Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held a clearing sale on account of Mr. E. H. McLellan, of Aria, on the 21st instant, when all his live stock was offered to an excellent attendance of local buyers. The herd, which was in excellent condition, sold well under keen competition, the 48 cwos averaging £7 12s, including seven unsound cows, the 41 sound cows making the good average of £8 Bs.
The ewes also attracted interest, selling 1 at slightly above late rates. Quotations: Good 2-tooth ewes, r.w. Romney rams, 23s sd; good 6-tooth ewes, r.w. Romney rams, 21s 6d; medium 5-year ewes, r.w. Romney rams, lambs, store condition, 6s Id. 10s 6d; cull ewes Is; medium wether Two good Tamworth-cross sows, due August, £4 4s; one medium Tamworth sow, due August, £2 10s; one medium Berkshire sow, due October, £2 7s; seven white slips 12s 6d. Best Jersey dairy cows, due August, £9 to £9 15s; good, due August, £8 to £8 15s; good Jersey dairy cows, due August-September, £7 to £7 10s; small 2-year Jersey heifers, due JulyAugust, £5 17s 6d; good Jersey heifer calves, medium size, £2 6s. Aged half-draught farm horses £5 to £9.
