MAHOENUI NOTES

FAREWELL AFTERNOON. A farewell afternoon was held at Mrs. Govenlock’s residence last Wednesday by members of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union to Miss M. Gribbon, who is leaving the district to get married. A very enjoybale afternoon was spent in playing games and taking part in competitions and community singing. During the afternoon the president, wishing her every happiness in the future, presented her with a bedroom clock. Miss Gribbon suitably replied. A dance in aid of the Mokau Sports Queen was held in the local hall on Saturday, 17th instant. A large number were present from Pio Pio, Mokau and Awakino. Music was supplied by Mrs. J. Beatty. During the evening a competition was won by Mr. P. Dempsey. Personals. Mr. and Mrs. S. Roberts have returned from Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. D. Andrews were the guests of Mrs. C. Roberts over the week-end.

Mrs. J. Avery has returned from New Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. S. Hodges, Tekiri, are the guests of Mrs. W. Rattenbury.

Messrs. A. C. and L. E. Moir have returned from Auckland. Miss E. C. Armstrong, who has been visiting her mother, has returned to Auckland.

Mr. and Mrs. R. Rattenbury have returned from Auckland.
