BOXING
GILDO FOR TE KUITI. It will be great news to the fans to learn that the great little Filipino boxer, Young Gildo, will appear in the local ring on March 6th in a training bout. Gildo is one of the finest boxers to visit New Zealand, and Te Kuiti people should be indeed grateful to the local Association for bringing him here. Billy Martin, the rugged Australian who meets Al. Stock in the main bout on Saturday week, had an impressive win over Mudgway at Waihi on Saturday night, and it certainly looks as if Te Kuiti will see some wonderful boxing next week. Stock is reported to be doing well in his training, and says he feels confident of getting a decision over the Aussie. A great programme of amateur bouts will precede the big professional fight. Heavy reservations are being made at McColl's.
