Batting first, India compiled 228 runs in spite of the fact that Copson took 5 wickets for 44. Derby replied with 160, of which total C. Elliott contributed 77. Bannerjee took 4of the wickets for 51. India in their second innings have 37 runs in hand without loss. THE M.C.C. TEAM. TOUR OF AUSTRALIA. ALLEN TO BE CAPTAIN. (Press Association. —Copyright.) (Received 11.45 a.m.) London, July 20. The M.C.C. announces that Allen will captain the team to tour Australia. Robins, Hammond, Leyland, Verity, Fishlock, and are also invited. Captain R. Howard, secretary of the Lancashire Club, has been invited to act as manager subject to the approval of the Lancashire committee.
