PERSONAL
Judge McCormick, who has been presiding over the Native Land Court in Te Kuiti for the past two weeks, left for Auckland last night. Although no official statement can be made in the existing circumstances it is regarded in Wellington as certain that Mr. D. J. Cummings, superintendent of police at Wellington, is to be appointed Commissioner of Police on the final retirement of Mr. W. G. Wohlmann, the present commissioner. Mr. Wohlmann, who completed his duties on March 31, is still commissioner until three months' leave of absence, which was granted to him, expires at the end of next month.
