TE KUITI CYCLING CLUB

F. SMITH'S SUCCESS. IN SIX-MILE HANDICAP. A good field faced the starter on Saturday last, when a six-mile race was run by the Te Kuiti Cycling Club. F. Smith (2 % min.), who was second last week, was first to cross the finishing line, closely followed by the scratch men, D. Watson and C. Harris. A grand tussle took place between the scratch riders, who raced pedal to pedal nearly the whole length of the home straight, but Watson, with a fine burst of speed, beat Harris over the line by » wheel. Fastest time was gained by Watson, who covered the distance in 16 mins. 25 sees.

Special mention is due to F. Smith, the winner, who, though he has only raced twice, has been in the money on both occasions. He has shown he rides with good judgment, and with a few more rides will gain the necessary experience which will make him one of the Club's, best riders.

Next Saturday's race will be over another short course. With good weather a good race should be witnessed.
