THE VESTRIS DISASTER.
FINDING OF COMMISSION. MANAGEMENT OF VESSEL CRITICISED. (Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 9.30 a.m.) New York, December 19. Mr O'Neill, the chairman of the Commission appointed to enquire into the wreck of the steamer Vestris, has published an official report on the result of the enquiry. The result stated that the hearing had shown there was no basis for prosecuting anyone in the United States for the disaster, but criticised the management of the vessel and urged a stricter inspection of ships of foreign registry in the American trade. Such vessels should be given the same inspection as American vessels, unless they held certificates of inspection from the country of registry.
