AEROPLANE CANNOT CLEAR WATER. WAITING FOR BETTER WEATHER (Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 11.30 a.m.) London, December 19. A copyright report from the Wilkins' expedition states: "We made repeated efforts to get off the water with the aeroplane from equipped pontoons, but failed owing to the heavy load. We ran the plane four miles out before we abandoned the attempt. Meanwhile the .shovelling away of the ice is almost completed for a land flying field, from where the next attempt to start the aeroplane will be made when the weather permits."
