The spirits of the Fascists have been tremendously '-'revived in consequence of a speech delivered by Mussolini in the Chamber on Saturday, declaring that as* the Opposition had persistently rejected his efforts at pacification he had decided that force must be the arbiter. Subsequently Mussolini, in a conference with the authorities, decided on measures to supress the subversive elements, including reinforcement of the Fascist militia. He gave orders to search the houses and offices of dangerous leaders, and to dissolve all political clubs.

Numerous demonstrations were organised throughout Italy on Sunday, rejoicing at the revival of the Fascist spirit. The police and troops at Milan had to protect the offices of the Corriere de Alia Sera and other Opposition newspapers, also the Masoniclodges.

The Legion and militia are engaged in technical manoeuvres with machine guns at Rome, the idea being the resistance of a supposed invading force.

General Gandolpho, the new commander of the Militia, afterwards reviewed the Legion. Gandolpho issued an order praising the militavy spirit and bearing of the militia. Subsequently the Legion paraded in Rome, singing the Fascist hymn "Giovinezza-' - ; The artillery section carried machine ; guns on their shoulders. The parade was headed by Colonel Candelori, whom Rossi, ex-chief of the Government Press Bureau, now in prison, specially attacked in his recent memorandum, accusing Mussolini of complicity in the Fascisl outrages. Farinacci. the leader of the uncompromising FYiscisls. accompanied Canidelori.

The Legion paid homage at the tomb of the unknown soldier. The police and troops guarded the offices of the Opposition news] .ipers, but no disorders occurred. The Government has decreed the disbandmenl of the Italia Libera, the ex-servicemen's party heath'-;] by Genera] Peppino Garibaldi, on the ground of its alleged cnti -constitutional and seditious programme.
