TE KUITI SCHOOL.
DISTRIBUTION OF COCOA. The distribution of hot drinks to the school children in the lunch hour has been sufficiently appreciated by the children to allow of a reduction in the cost per week from 3d to 2d. When the scheme was first originated, it was thought that the children would be able to undertake the distribution, but this could not be done, and a committee of .ladies was formed to carry out the work. It was then, found that further assistance was required, and in response to an appeal the good services of a further ten ladies was enlisted to aid the work of the original committee.
It is not known at present if the distribution of cocoa will be continued on the re-opening of the school, which is now closed for the mid-winter holidays, but it is understood the practice will be continued as long as cold weather lasts. To those. sixteen ladies who so unselfishly devote their time to the preparation of the cocoa, etc., the thanks of every parent who has a child or children attending the school axe undoubtedly due, and it is eminently pleasing to know that there are women, as well as men, in Te Kuiti, with that ingrained spirit of self-sacri-fice, without which no city, or township has ever prospered.
