A MOCX PARLIAMENT.

SHOULD WE BECOME A CO-OPER-ATIVE COMMONWEALTH ?

NUMEROUS POINTS OF ORDER.

While Mr Speaker was away on his session end visit to the Governor-Gen-eral, the House of Representatives had its little bit of fun. Mr Tau Henare was elected to the chair. He entered the Chamber preceded by his Sergeant-at-Arms (Mr Gilbert Maclcay), who carried on his shoulder in approved style the mace (one of Mr Downie Stewart’s cratches). Dispensing with the old formality of prayers, the new Speaker got straight to business. Mr Howard moved that New Zealand should be declared a co-operative commonwealth.

Mr T. W. Rhodes proceeded to discuss the Bill in Maori. Mr Howard: Point of order. Is that hon. gentleman sober? Mr Wright wished to ask a question : ' Where did the original Maoris come from?

The new Speaker: Is that an urgent question? The House is adjourned, and will sit again. Mr Speaker bolted. Another Speaker was found in the person of Mr Howard, who announced that the House had resumed. Mr Wright immediately rose to a point of order. Mr Speaker: There is a point of order. The question is: Is this gentleman right? Mr Wright: I want to introduce a Bill. Mr Speaker: Too late! It ought to have been paid long ago. The House adjourned till the wringing of the clothes.
