TE KUITI BOWLING AND CROQUET CLUB.

NOTES BY "KITTY."

Great interest is still being maintained in bowling, and three new members have joined the club during the past week. The club competitions are now in full swing and quite a number of the matches have beer got off, though it would be just as well if those players who are behind in their games would make an effort to keep up with the draw. The rinks are fairly heavy just now, as a result of the recent rains, and I notice chat one or two of the greens have been experiencing a bad time owing to the way in which some of the players handle their bowls. Bowls put down with a bump very soon make a bare patch, and it is to be hoped that offending players will take note.

S. Lissaman is leaving the district and his place in the Pairs will be taken by Cochrane. *&&s<>■: :*r * All those members wishing to take part in a Croquet competition are requested to hand in their names to Mr Power on or before Wednesday next, 30th inst. . The entrance fee is one shilling. The players will be placed in two sections according to merit, and a draw made to decide who shall be partners—one from each section.

"Kitty" is pleased to notice the progress being made by Mrs Dransfield and Mrs Portei, both players nowputting up a very good game. The secretary wishes to remind members that match and locker fees are now due.

COMPETITION GAMES. The following competition games have been piayed during the week Julian 25 v. Hardy 11.— Julian has been practising very assiduously of late and is coming along very fast. The score included two threes and a four, which runs up the total in Singles. Atkinson 14 v. King 13.—This was a very close game as was generally expected. Edgar 18 v: Julian 17.—Julian did well to get so close to Edgar m this game, but Edgar is getting little practice of late. There should be a different tale to tell next time.

Julian 20 v. Darrow 10.—Darrow, who is a left-hander of much promise, is just starting. He should win more games than he loses in his section. Broadfoot 22 v. Smith 12. —This was a veritable boil-over, but it just shows how fast a player can come on. I think Smith held bis adversary too cheaply. Edgar 18 v. Darrow 17.—A four on the third head won this game for Edgar. It was a battle royal to the end, when Darrow just missed victory by an inch. Hardy 22 v. Chilcott 21.—The result of this game surprised me. I expected Chilcott to win handsomely, but Hardy was not to be denied, and wanting two to win on the last head, he scored them with two good shots. Matthew 25 v. Paxton 6. —The doctor should have done better than this, but he had hard luck on several occasions, just missing the "jack" when there was a certain two or three in sight. Dransfield and Broadfoot 21 v. Lissaman senr. and Albrechtsen 17. This was a very exciting game and was 17 all on the 20th head, when Dransfiald finished with a 4, Lissaman just failing to trail the "jack" over with his last bowl.

Hardy and Sharpies 32 v. Mclndoe and Smith 12. Up to the 9th head Sharpies scored his four and two fives —enough to have broken Smith's heart; but all the same if Smith had drawn instead of trying to drive in the critical times, he would have done much better. It takes a very old player to handle a drive. Rouse/and Paxton 20 v. Mattthew and Lineham 16.—Paxton turned the tables in this game, and scored a very meritorious win.

Finlay and Jones 20 v. King and Power 19. —This was a very keen game, won on the last head by a single. Finlay led well and was of great assistance to his skip.
