THE LOAN POLL.
EMPHATICALLY CARRIED. 141 TO 3. The poll in connection with the proposal to raise £29,500 for the purposes of roads, water, drainage, lighting, and fire brigade for the borough of Te Kuiti, was held on Thursday last, in Hattaway's Hall, Te Kuiti. Polling was never very brisk, but steadily during the day ratepayers went in to register their votes, and at 7.25 his Worship the Mayor was able to make the announcement that the loan proposals had been carried by 141 votes to 3 votes. There were no informal votes. In a brief anounncement of the result. Mr Boddie thanked those who had voted for the proposal, and thus shown their confidence in Mayor and and Council, as well as those who had not voted and by their abstinence showed they did not oppose the proposals. As a result of the. poll they might shortly expect to have a clean town, a healthy town, and an up-to-date town in every way sufficient for all present requirements. He assured them that every care would be taken that the money entrusted to them would be spent to the very best advantage for the community at large.
