j Messrs Dalgcty an:! Co., Ltd., 1 report:— I We had a most successful sale in | the Hamilton yards on 10th inst., when I 1800 sheep and about 350 head of cattle came forward. One special line of 300 fat and forward woolly wethers had keen competition up to a certain price, but were passed in, and were ultimately sold after the sale. The [ fat cattle were a very fine lot, and excited keen competition, most of them being sold under the hammer. Empty heifers were keenly sought after, especially one pen of grade ! Jersey heifers from Feilding, which brought very good prices. We quote as follows:- -Woolly fat and forward wethers 22s 9d, woolly hoggets small lis 4d, fat ewes 16s, fat oxen £S ."is to £lO 10s, fat heifers £7 to £7 L?s, fat cows £5 5s to £0 ss. 2 year empty i heifers £3 12s to £M 15?, 2 year grade Jersey heifers £5 17s, 18 months steers £o Kls to £3 IPs. yearling steers £2 18s to £2 19s, yearling heifers £3 3s. On 11th inst., we held our Ngaruawahia sale, when a full yarding of cattle came forward, comprising mostly yearling and 18 month cattle. On account of prices easing, a good many lines were passed in, as owners were not disposed to let them go at the reduced prices, we, however, were successful in disposing of a good many of the pens afterwards. We quote as follows: —two year empty heifers £2 5s to £5, 18 month empty heifers £3 5s to £3 lis, 2 year steers £4 17s, yearling steers £2 17s, yearling heifers £2 2s, empty forward cows £4.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report: — We had a full yarding of fat and store cattle, also springers and bulls, at Te Awamutu, on 12th inst. A good demand existed for all classes of stock, and a total clearance was effected at auction or afterwards. Fat cows made £6 to £6 ss, cows in forward condition £4 to £4 3s 6d, cows in fresh condition £2 14s to £3 ss, 18 month to 2 year steers £3 15s to £4, 1\ year steers nearly beef £4 15s to £5, 12 to 15 month steers £2 12s 6d to £3, mixed cattle same age up to £2 16s 6d, 2 year old empty heifers £3 10s to £3 15s, 15 month choice heifers £3 ss, others £2 12s to £2 15s, springing heifers £5 12s 6d to £B, others more backward £4 to £4 15s, dairy cows up to £7 10s, yearling bulls 4gs to s£gs, weaner pigs 7s to 10s 6d, slips 12s fid to 14s, spring cart horse £25, 16 shares in New Zealand Dairy Association, first issue, 28s fid.
