MANIAPOTO RUGBY UNION.

To the Editor. Sir— J beg the allowance of a little space in your valuable paper to express the astonishment of a number o* lovers of football in this district at the action of the above Union in passing the team picked to represent the M. R.U. against Otorohanga next Saturday. I would like to ask, who arc Glasgow, Mitcheson, and, if it come? to that, who is Moir? Have they rep resented any of the Cubs that compos* the Moniapoto Rugby Union? Havi they represented any of the teams al Aria, riding 50 miles through mud am rain; or have they represented any ol the teams on the Te Kuiti footbal ground, where we have seen thos< teams struggling for supremacy; play ing through lakes of water and mu< galore? Where is the fair play that Britishers like o boast of ? Why should such men as Vause, Howarth, Rothery. Rou Rata, Hikaka Helet, IJira and Keelcy; men who have all played well for their respective clubs, j be passed over for men who have not played in one single match? I beg his pardon, Moir played one match, and has since been pliying for Ettham; the other two have not, and in all probability have only just been registered to allow of their playing against Otorohanga, and then ring them in for the free trip to Auckland. Surely the Union could use a Hitle more dlscre tion, and not lay themselves open to such an obvious conclusion: Favouriti ism.—l am, etc., FAIR PLAY. TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —In your paper of the 15th insL, I noticed a complaint from Mr G. J. Bevege, re a telegram. Some country postmasters give a lot of favour to those they wish to, and a lot of annoyance to others. 1 would suggest that a petition be got up, and sent to the Postmaster-General, asking that these country postmasters post up on their road gate, a least once every day, the names of people for whom telegrams have •»me, so that any one passing by can see, and then can call and get for themselves or their neighbours, any telegram, or let their neighbours know that they are there.—l am, etc. INTERESTED.
