SALARIES OF POSTAL OFFICIALS TO BE INCREASED.
LONG OVERDUE. An increase of £l5 a year in the salaries of three of the lower-paid classes of officers of the Post and Telegraph Department was ratified in Wellington last week. Advice of the increases was received by the Christchurch section of the Post and Telegraph Employees’ Association on August 8. Those officers on a salary of £250, £260, and £275 will receive this increase, while a few officers on £270 will receive an increase of £5, and certain other small classes will benefit to the extent of about £2O. The increases are retrospective to April 1, and to the total salaries the £26 cost of living bonus has to be added.
