KAIKOURA TROTTING CLUB
MEETING OF COMMITTEE A meeting of the committee of the Kaiikoura Tiotting Club took place at. the Masonic Hall on Saturday night, Mr W. S. Bennett (President) presiding. Others p:•■s.cir, were Atessrs E. C. Latter, W. Moir, T. Alexander, A. B. Clark, Hewson, J. J. Trewin, Le Clere. Latter and .1. M. Reid. An apology was received for the absence of Mr I. Si ape.. The President extended a welcome to new membi rs, ami explained that- free discussion was always invited, as no one man could cariy on the work of Iho club. He felt that with the enthusiasm shown by members ami the efforts of the committee trotting would again be placed on the map in Kaikoura. Airs AT. E. Latter, of “Cloudy Rango.” advised that she was pleased to aeeept the position of patroness. Air Le Clere Latter proposed that complimentary tickets be issued to a number of people outside the district. and that the President use his own discretion regarding complimentary tickets to be issued in the district. The motion was carried unanimously. It was dc'eided on the motion of Mr Le Clere Latter than a report lie presented to next meeting regarding insurance against wet weather. Messrs J. J. Trewin, .1. M. Reid and E. C. Latter were appointed a ground committee to inspect the course and buildings, with power to secure the necessary material for the working bee t(» bo held on Saturday next. It was decided to increase the stake by £BO, making an increase of £lO for each of the eight races. In addition there will be, a cup presented by Mr Ben Dooley, and-another cup valued at £l5. together with other trophies. The following officials were elected: Judge, Air E. H. Workman; assistant judge, Air R. Ballantyne: clerk of scales, Mi W. Moir, assistant, Mr T. Alexander; clerk of course, Mr P. AT. Kerr; Hon. Surgeon, Dr. R; L. Withers; Handicapper, Mr T. Paul, jun.; Starter, ATr A. J. Hastings, assistant, Air S. Sharpe; Timekeepers, Alessrs F. Gibson, I. Slope and 11. Leanian; Judicial Committee, Alessrs A. J. Afurray, J. MeGivern, J. J. Mackie. A, Keenan. Andrew Stewart. Nominations are to close on February 15, and acceptances on February 22. WORKING BEE. All interested in trotting are requested to meet on the Racecourse on Saturday morning to assist the wonking bee appointed to attend to repairs etc. A full muster is requested.
