MINISTERIAL VISIT
MOVEMENTS OF MR SEMPLE. 'Che Hon. R. Semple, Minister for Public Works, left Blenheim this morning, accompanied by Mr E. P. Meachen, M.P., and Mr ,T. Wood, Chief Engineer, on a visit of inspection of the South Island Main Trunk Line. On the way down he will address the settlers of Flax bourne, at Ward, at 10 a.m. At .11.30 a.m. he will deliver an address to the men engaged on the line at the Blue Slip., and lunch at “Woodbank,” Clarence Bridge. At 3 o’clock he will address the men engaged on construction work at Aniseed camp, after which the party will proceed to Kaikoura. Tomorrow he will leave Kaikoura. for Parnassus, addressing the railway men at. Oaro at 10 a.m., at Conway at 11.30 and Parnassus at 2 p.m. The Minister will stay at the Club Hotel to-night. DEATH OF MR T- B. MEACHEN. Advice has been received announcing the death of Mr T. B. Meachen, father of Mr E. P. Meachen, ALP., at the ago of 81 years. We join with our readers in extending heartfelt sympathy to Mr Meachen and family in their bereavement. Owing to the death of his father Air Meachen will be unable to remain in Kaikoura to-night.
