The Tory Channel whalers have had a busy time during the past week, 12 whales being captured in the seven days including four on Saturday, states the Marlborough Express. Most of them have been taken fairly close to the entrance. but the boats had a long chase after two whales, killing them just alongside The Brothers. The total is now thirteen for the season, one having been taken last month. A spin of the coin as a means of deciding a case was laughingly suggested by Air 11. A. Young, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court during the hearing of a tedious civil action. Counsel suggested that Mr Young might visit a property concerned in the dispute and so expedite' the proceedings by doing away with long expert evidence. “On the other band,” replied Air Young, “Why not toss up for it?”
