CHEVIOT COUNTY COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting of the Cheviot Count;.; Council was held on Saturday. September 5, when there were present: Councillors -T. II L. Hiatt (Chairman), G. L. Rutherford, S. Douglas, W. L. Foster, T. Stevenson. A. D. Anderson, ami D. McLaren. Permission was granted Messrs Douglas and Holton to move their fences close to the formation line on the Brothers’ portion of the Gore Bay Road. A letter was received from the Cheviot Branch of the Plunket Society, thanking the Council for their offer Io supply the weighing scales. The North Canterbury Hospital Board wrote stating that they expected the plan of the Cottage Hospital back from the Health Department at an early date. A resolution was passed to support the Wallace County Council regarding ■ classification of main highways for a six ton lorry class. The Canterbury Progress League wrote asking for the usual annual donation, which was granted. Mr T. Bowen applied to have a portion of Buckley Street formed, past his house. The application was refused. A request from the foreman that the Council supply hack shoes was refused. The Engineer was appointed Motor Inspector on the Main Highways. A committee from the Christchurch court of the Dunedin ami oouth Seas Exhibition waited on the Council, with a request for a donation. The quota applied for was granted. Accounts amounting to £692 16/1 were passed for payment.
