BOROUGH’S POSITION LEGAL OPINION REQUIRED There were one or two points the borough solicitor, Mr N. C. O’Neill, was not satisfied about, said Mr M. C. Baker, town clerk, when, at the December meeting of the Paeroa ough Council a letter was read from the secretary of the Paeroa and District Citizens’ Ambulance Controlling Committee, asking for the council’s approval of the proposals which had been agreed to at a recent public meeting with regard to the ownership of the, ambulance. What was the legal position if the council made a grant to the ambulance, fund, asked Cr J. H. Walmsley, who thought the audit department would question the regularity of the position. Cr C. O’Brien suggested that the legaf and finance committee confer with the borough solicitor and that the committee be given power to act. The meeting accepted the proposal.
