VOTING FIGURES
PAEROA’S PERCENTAGE MUCH INTEREST SHOWN OTHER TOWNS COMPARED That very great interest was shown in Paeroa in the recent local body elections is borne out by the fact that out of a total of 1703 eligible voters the record number of 1180, representing 69 per cent, exercised their votes. At Thames with a roll of 3006 only 1545 or 50 per cent exercised voting right. At Waihi there was less interest. Of a roll of 2476, 32 per cent only (795) voted. At the previous municipal elections in Paeroa in November, 1947, there were 1539 voters on the roll and 819 or 53 per cent exercised their vote.
