TENNIS OPENING
MIRANDA COURTS FINISHED
MANY VISITORS PRESENT
The residents of Miranda, who completed the laying out of two tennis courts last year, now have very nice courts and surroundings for their young people to play and when the club held its opening day recently, there was a large gathering of both local residents and players from surrounding districts. Visitors were there from Mangatangi, Kaiaua, Pokeno and Waitakaruru clubs. Weather conditions were ideal and a long happy day’s sport was enjoyed, the ladies providing a very delicious luncheon and afternoon tea.
The president of the club, Mr Howard Levers, in a neat little speech, welcomed the visitors and wished the club a very successful and enjoyable season's play. Mrs Levers then drove the first ball over the net. On Saturday, October 28, Maramarua players came along to show their* interest and a succession of friendly games was played.
