ATHLETIC MEETING
WAIKATO CENTRE MEETS
FIXTURES ARRANGED
PAEROA DELEGATES ATTEND
Two members of the Paeroa Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club, Mr R. J. Hughes, president, and Mr R. Neil, attended the annual meeting of the Waikato Athletic Centre held recently in Hamilton- and Mr Hughes was successful in being elected a member of the executive committee of the Waikato centre.
At the meeting, application was made by the Paeroa delegates for permission to change the colours of the club to red singlet with a two inch white band and the application was granted. A full discussion took place as to where the Waikato championships should be held in the coming season. Paeroa delegates proposed that they be held in Paeroa, all events to be run in one day, but it was finally decided that the championship events be run in two separate Saturdays, the senior track and the women’s and
junior field events to be run at Kaipaki on February 10 next and the senior field events at Hamilton on February 3.
■ The championship events in the children’s section will be held at Tauranga on a date which- has as yet to be fixed.
The national championships for the women’s and junior events will be held in Napier on February 23 and 24 next and’ the senior championship events at Wellington on March 2 and 3. The Paeroa club hopes to hold an open athletic meeting on March 3, 1951, and application has been made to the Waikato centre for permission to hold the meeting on that date.
