A BUSY WEEK
FUNDS FOR OUIDES
COROMANDEL GIRLS’ EFFORTS
The Coromandel Girl Guides had a very busy week when they did their bit in response to the appeal from headquarters to “work a week” for funds for Guiding. They cleaned windows, mowed lawns, weeded gardens, delivered parcels, cleaned silver, minded babies, ran messages, distributed picture theatre cards and did numerous other odd jobs, thus earning an amount of £7/18/- which went to Dominion headquarters in Hastings. The open evening for parents and friends in connection with this’ special Guide week was reported fully last week. The trading table run by the Red Kowhai patrol made the sum of £l/13/7 for their patrol funds. The collection taken up that evening was for the leper funds and amounted to £l/14/6, not Guide funds as previously reported.
Guide week was brought to a close on Sunday morning, October 8, when the Guides paraded at the Methodist church.
