WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
A NETHERTON MEETING THE DRESSMAKING CLASSES There was an excellent attendance of members of the Netherton Women’s Institute at the .September meeting. The president, Mrs C. Townshend, opened the meeting with the ode, prayer and inspirations. Birthday sprays were presented to Mrs Durman, Mrs F. Bennett, Mrs J. M. Simpson and Mrs lan Jamieson. The usual round of business was then dealt with and birthday invitations answered. Members were also enrolled for the dressmaking classes which are to commence in February next. Final arrangements for the institute’s birthday party were attended to. Mrs R. Smith won the competition for September. Other competitions resulted:— Meringues, Mrs J. Bennett, 1; MJns B. Buchanan, 2; Mrs C. Townshend, 3. Feeder, Mrs W. Lyon, l; t Mrs J. Royal, 2; Mrs J. Andrew and Mrs Leo Sarjant, equal, 3.. Bulb bloom, Mrs E. Johnson, 1; Mrs B. Buchanan, 2 and 3. A busy afternoon was brought to a close with afternoon tea, served b£ Mesdames E. Johnson, C. Martin and R. Locke.
