INSPECTOR’S REPORT
iPLAN-S & ESTIMATES WANTED
Various improvements, and alterations at # the Paeroa Maternity Hospital have been suggested by the nurse inspector of the ’Department of Health, Wellington, following her recent visit to the Paeroa hospital. In a letter placed before the July meeting of the Thames Hospital Board the director general, Wellington, itemised the various deficiencies referred to in the report of the nurse inspector. Hand washing facilities were poor, linoleum was in bad order, sterilizers had no taps for filling or emptying. There was also a lack of storage space and the director-general recommended that the board’s medical officers should advise what they considered were necessary in the way of hand washing facilities and approximate cost of the same. A.report bn
the condition of linoleum was required and it was suggested' that practical steps be taken to install taps for sterilizers.
The director-general also desired to be advised as 1 to the board’s proposals to provide extra storage space. There would be need to extend the building which was brick and it was going to be expensive, said the secretary, Mr A. L. Neighbour, who pointed out that there was no storage room within the existing building.
Mr Edwin Edwards moved that the matter be referred to the architect, who should be asked to provide plans and estimates.
The building had been erected 25 years ago and had given good service but now it had become too small for the expanding demand upon its services.
