ANNUAL MEETING HELD COROMANDEL FOOTBALL CUPS With many cup matches to play it was decided at the annual meeting of the Coromandel Rugby Union recently, that, there would only be two rounds for the challenge cup. Other cups held by Coromandel teams and Coromandel representatives are the Kidd and Davis challenge cups (Coromandel), Ngapo shield and McGregof cup (Kennedy Bay), Denize cup (Colville), Dewar’s cup, between Maori and pakeha (Maori), the O’Hara cup (Coromandel Old Boys). Two inter-union cups played for between Coromandel, Mercury Bay and Thames, the Montgomery and White cups are both held by Coromandel. The Mahinga cup for the juniors of Coromandel and Mercury Bay is also held by Coromandel. The Callahan cup, played for between Coromandel and Manakau Old Boys, is held by Manakau. Zealand- Rugby Union’s council,.asking if it was prepared to assist in the ,building of a stand. With only three teams in the union, the secretary, Mr V. Keefe, said he would be contacting the unions at Thames, Paeroa and Hauraki Plains with a view to making a match for the Coromandel team which each week drew a bye. The charges for games. throughout the season were fixed as follows:— Club matches 1/- for adults and representative matches 1/6 for adults. Mr T. Port was appointed the union’s official gatekeeper.
