COMING OF AGE
MERVYN LEACH HONOURED PARTY AT WAITAKARURU Recently Mr and Mrs Harry Leach, of Waitaksruru, entertained about one hundred and forty of their friends in honour of their son Mervyn, who had reached his twenty-first birthday. The function, which took the form of a dance, was held in Pipiroa hall, owing to the fact that the Waitakaruru hall had been hired for the local show. Dancing went on until two o'clock and everyone had a very good
time. After a very nice buffet supper had been served, the tdaata drunk. Mr W. Bathurst called Mervyn forward and tendered to him the good wishes of all present. ' Mr Leach then congratulated his son on . having reached manhood and presented him with the “key of the door.”
Mervyn responded with a happy little speech in wllich he thanked his parents for giving him such a apian? did evening and also the gueete both for their good wishes and for the wonderful array of really splendid presents.
Mervyn then cut the beautifully iced birthday cake, which was then banded round. . ,
